Die Proof
An impression, usually pulled on soft carton or lndia paper, of an intaglio engraving of a banknote, usually taken during the progress of the engraving to check the detail. Banknote proofs of this nature usually consist of the portrait or some detail of the design, such as the border, rather than the complete motif.
